Meet Jamie R. Wright

A Testament to Endurance. A Builder of Healing Spaces. A Champion for Survivors. A Voice for the Unheard.

Jamie's life is proof that your beginning does not dictate your ending.

She grew up learning to make herself small - to stay quiet, stay invisible, and stay safe. Childhood abuse taught her that survival meant silence. But somewhere between the fear and the pain, a different truth took root: she deserved more than just surviving.

At 14, she became a mother. And at 40, she was fleeing domestic violence, finding safety in a Houston homeless shelter during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Within months, she defied every statistic, securing stable housing and purchasing her own home, a journey featured on HGTV's House Hunters.

But Jamie's transformation did not start there. For nearly two decades, she built a distinguished career in service, including two civilian tours in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). She earned the Joint Civilian Service Commendation Medal, the NATO Medal of Service, and the Expeditionary Medal for the Global War on Terrorism. This was proof that the girl who once had to make herself small had become a woman who showed up for something bigger than herself. And she was not done yet!

Building Lemmer Lee's Place

When Jamie's grandmother, Lemmer Lee Harris, passed away, Jamie knew exactly how to honor her legacy. Lemmer Lee had shown her that love is a lifeline, encouragement is a bridge, and survivor support is a shelter strong enough to hold a hurting world.

Lemmer Lee's Place is a 13-home housing development in Oklahoma for survivors of domestic violence. In partnership with the Oklahoma Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) and KiBois Community Action Foundation, Jamie is not just building houses. She is building futures through housing for survivors. Each home comes with transformational support services and economic empowerment programs. Jamie has created a pathway to reroute lives and achieve tangible success.

This is what empowerment looks like when it is built with intention. This is what happens when a survivor does not just escape. She creates the sanctuary to shelter others.

A Voice That Moves Audiences

Jamie now travels the country sharing her story, not as a tragedy, but as a blueprint for transformation. As a resilience speaker, she speaks to corporations, nonprofits, universities, and survivor organizations about resilience, leadership forged in crisis, and the power of turning pain into purpose.

Her audiences do not just hear a story. They witness what is possible when someone refuses to let their past write their future.

"The darkest moments of our lives can become the birthplace of our greatest purpose. I didn't survive just to survive; I thrived, and in doing so I am building something that perpetuates empowerment."
